Protective system for combustible dust applications, designed to prevent the propagation of explosions from the dust collector to the extraction ductwork.
The CARZ-NS Explosion Isolation Flap Valve is an efficient patented protection system specifically designed for combustible dust applications. This backdraft flap valve prevents the propagation of an explosion from the dust collector to the extraction ductwork, thereby helping protect personnel, the working environment and equipment.
The valve is specifically designed as an explosion pressure-resistant device, capable of preventing the transmission of hazardous explosion effects, including explosion pressure waves and flame fronts, from the filter to the extraction ducting and surrounding work areas.
The use of a backdraft flap valve helps reduce the risks associated with combustible dust explosions, improving protection for both personnel and equipment.
Operation
During normal operation of the extraction system, the valve is kept open by the airflow. The wide opening angle ensures low pressure drop during operation.
In the event of an explosion inside the dust collector, the resulting pressure wave forces the valve flap to close and lock into position. Once closed, the flap acts as an effective barrier against the advancing flame front, preventing the explosion from propagating from the filter to the upstream working areas.
