Installed within the ductwork as part of a dust collection system, the Inline Spark Trap significantly reduces the risk of fire in cyclones and dust collectors by decreasing the number of sparks that could reach the cyclone or dust filter through the ducting system.
The effectiveness of the spark trap is based on a simple principle: disrupting the laminar airflow so that sparks cool down and extinguish before they can enter the cyclone or dust collector.
The unit contains no moving parts and requires no external power supply for operation.
The QuickFit (QF) ductwork design, free from rivets, screws and welding, significantly reduces the time required to install or replace ducting systems. The Inline Spark Trap can therefore be installed quickly and easily in QuickFit ducting systems or in other duct systems using an adapter, and can be easily removed for cleaning operations. In addition, no calibration or servicing by a maintenance technician is required.
The spark trap must be installed in a horizontal position.
Recommended duct distance: at least ten duct diameters from the cyclone or dust collector
Air velocity: 8 m/s – 25 m/s
The Inline Spark Trap does not replace spark detection or explosion isolation systems. It is intended solely as a complementary safety device.
