FKZ-FKX
THE TRANQUILLITY OF SAFETY |
|
|
Under
certain conditions according to
material, dust concentration, air
humidity, particles' size and particles'
shape, an explosion hazard can arise. It is not possible to predict when the
explosion will happen and it is
difficult to prevent its happening but,
with the FK25 units, it is possible to
control the explosion. |

Dust
and the dangers of explosions
A dust explosion is extremely violent
and it develops extremely quickly. In most
cases it results in severe material
damage and a long plant repairing time but
in some cases it can also result in
personnel's injury. Dust is classified into danger
categones St. 1, St. 2, or St. 3; the
higher the categories number the more
violent the explosion. DANTHERM
has
developed special filter units to cope
with these different categories, so that
the explosive forces can be controlled,
damage can be minimized and there is the
best possible protection for personnel
and plant. |

Minimising explosion damage
DANTHERM's
explosion venting filters (the FKX25 and
FKZ25) operate exactly as the standard
FK25 filters during normal use, but the
filter casing and hopper are
manufactured with a much heavier gauge
of steel plate. The units are also
fitted with explosion relief diaphragms
which do not have any mechanical parts.
If the pressure within the filter casing
exceeds a pre-set figure, because of an
explosion, the diaphragm will break so
that the pressure wave from the
explosion is vented to a safe area. Thus
the explosion is controlled and the
consequential damage is reduced to a
minimum. |

Tested and approved
The FKX25
and FKZ25 filters are designed and
manufactured in accordance with the
German VDI 3673 standard.
The FKX25 filter has been tested to a
maximum pressure of 70,000Pa (0.7 bar)
and is one of the very few filters
approved for use with St. 3 dusts. |

|
No explosions in the ducting system
The FKX25
and FKZ25 filters can be fitted with
explosion detection systems and high
speed dampers if required. These
accessories ensure that the filter is
isolated from the ducting system in the
event of an explosion and reduces the
spread of damage. |
